The Interaction Design Studio (IDS) is a multidisciplinary thrust that involves faculty and students from Engineering, Computer Science, and Industrial Design. IDS addresses the development of new concepts by focusing on the process of creating experiences through a product's design. IDS considers first what people want to do, then caters the product's surface and enabling technologies to fit the needs and constraints of the user. The mission of IDS is to:

  • Explore the interaction between people and technological products, and
  • Explore applications of technology to real products suitable for industrial, commercial, and consumer development.

Projects within the studio explore, envision, and create new yet intuitive ways for people to relate to and interact with technological products. Research within IDS has resulted in several award-winning concepts, including Digital Ink and Mocca. Click here to view Interaction Design Studio projects.
