PITA Fiscal Year 2010 Projects - Environmental Technologies
Novel Concentrated Solar Power Collector With Thermal Energy Storage
Principal Investigators: Sudhakar Neti, Co-PI: Wojciech Misiolek
The overall aim of this study is to develop a novel concentrated solar power dish technology with thermal energy storage capability. In order to accomplish this goal, Lehigh University will leverage its knowledge of thermal energy storage from a Department of Energy grant as well as the technical expertise in optics and energy from CEWA Technologies, Inc., a local start-up company. The prototype development will be aided by the use of facilities from Northampton Community College. Within the work scope of this proposed PITA project, formability testing and construction of a new prototype dish will be performed in order to determine the feasibility of using this technology in electrical power generation application.
