CrossLink: Connecting Graduate Students in Science and Engineering with Regional Opportunities
CrossLink is a PhD-student run group at Carnegie Mellon University that was originally founded in the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Department. The group aims to promote regional development of the Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania region in areas that employ PhD-level engineers and scientists in two ways:
- Better informing students about choosing an “industrial career path” and the relevant regional opportunities available to them upon graduation.
- To publicize the willingness of these highly educated individuals to accept employment in the regional area if appropriate opportunities can be identified.
Efforts are being made to extend this student group to other departments at Carnegie Mellon University, but currently the group is based only in the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Department.
Our primary mission is to better inform graduate students in engineering and science about industrial career paths as well as relevant regional opportunities in the Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania that are available upon graduation.
If you would like to know more details about the group, its goals, and activities please take a few minutes to explore our website. This group was developed by PhD students for PhD students and we feel that it is quite unique as a result. For individuals particularly interested in reproducing this group in other universities or departments, please feel free to download the additional information that we have provided in the “Our Goals & Approach” section.
Because we are PhD students ourselves, we are all very busy with classes and research. So… if you would like to contact us for any reason, please send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
