PITA Fiscal Year 2008 Projects - Nanotechnology
Development And Commercialization Of Aluminum High Strength Nano-Composites
A complimentary project to NASA studies conducted by the Institute for Metal Forming at Lehigh on development and fabrication of aluminium matrix nanocomposites is proposed. Development of the new material, its fabrication technology, its scale up and technology transfer to the existing or newly formed company in Pennsylvania is the major business objective of the proposed work. Partnership between the Lehigh team, lead by Professors Misiolek and Kiely, and EMV Technologies LLC of Bethlehem and Alcoa Inc. of Pittsburgh, PA makes a very powerful alliance with the long term interest in developing and manufacturing a new class of aluminium matrix nanocomposites.
